Japanese Satsuma footed low bowl of hemispherical shape; white or cream earthenware body decorated allover with polychrome enamels of chrysanthemum blossoms and leaves with fine gilt outlines and stippling; black ground. Raised sterling stem of I-shape that attaches at foot of bowl and descends to flared circular foot-base with encircling heart-shaped leaves and stems in art nouveau pattern; pierced openings in foot; hammered surface of foot.
