H23.1030
Bonnet, trimmed with green ribbon. Received from: Mr. Geo. W. Slocum, Holliston, Mass 10/26/95, Joan Severa: This is more a poke bonnet shape (less flared than H23.755). It dates c. 1835 (1834-1836) because of all the ribbon decoration on top; probably originally taupe color. The brim of this bonnet would have been lined with shell pink, rose pink, or soft peachie pink. It's straw, alternating wide and narrow braids and the narrow braids are bi-colored.
