"Res. of Hiram Tubbs, E. 12th St. & 5th Ave., ca. 1889"; ornamental fountain (D. Cooper, 3/98) According to Carolyn Douhtat in the Oakland Heritage Alliance News, Spring-Summer 1997, the Hiram Tubbs house was built in the 1860s. It was sited on the full block between 5th and 6th Avenues in what was then the village of Clinton.
