Gold Fever! The Lure and Legacy of the California Gold Rush. Jan. 24, 1998 - Oct. 31, 1999

Scales, of California miner. Presented to Oakland Pioneers by Jesse Walton (D. Peterson 2/79) Date: (blank). China. Scale; balance type: brass; smooth arm w/ hanger and balance needle in center; small brass plate w/ rolled lip at each end held by three chains. Condition: very good. Dimensions: arm length. 5 3/4" Width 1 5/8" plate diams: 2 3/8". S. Macarron 8/6/09. The artifact has a scale, a box and a set of 5 brass weights in the shape of cups. The set of weights does not seem to be original to the box, since the scale would not fit in the box with them. See subrecords for A: scales; B: box; C: set of weights.
