Of Corner Stone ceremonies of buildings and monuments of Oakland in 1906, and 1911 to 1915 inclusive From the History Information Station: Object: Ribbon for the reception for President William Howard Taft, October 13, 1911. Ticket for the reception with name written on it. History: President Taft came to California to begin the construction process for the Panama Pacific International Exposition, the first San Francisco world's fair. While he was in the Bay Area he also attended the ground-breaking ceremony for the new Oakland City Hall, which was to replace the old building destroyed in the 1906 earthquake.
