Gold scale; Description: Chinese, with weights enclosed in a wooden case. Used in California during 19th C. 19 additional pans of various sizes and one weight. numbered a - v.

Handscale (steeyard) with case, plates, and weight: a) case; wood, split, short handle with pivot pin at one end and braided sliding ring to secure case; large spoon shaped end for holding plates & weights; manufacturers sticker on case bottom. b) scale; ivory arm with calibratiens, silver tip with brass balancing needle. Weight; brass block. c-v): plates; brass; assorted sizes. Condition: good; case very worn. Dimensions: a) case: l. 14" w. 5 5/8". b) arm: l. 10 3/4" weight 1 3/8" x 3/4" x 3/4". c-v.) plates 5 1/8" to 1 3/4".
