Sluice box scraper to scrape gold out of sluice boxes. Description: El Dorado or Placerville County (D. Cooper, from the donor's memory, 5/97) The donor came to the Placerville area in the later 1940s and bought three of the old, abandoned mines in the "Big Cut" area, including the Excelsior and Weber Hydraulic Mines, and later cleared the land for homesites. Many of the artifacts in this collection were found during the land clearing.
