Coffee mill. Description: Iron coffee grinder. Clamped on cupboard. From the History Information Station: Coffee was as popular in the 19th century as it is today. But preparing it was a bit more complicated. People bought coffee beans fresh, and roasted and ground them at home. Instead of filtering hot water through the grounds, the coffee was just boiled right in the water, sometimes with a raw egg added to reduce the acidity. A cup of coffee included the grounds and usually a good deal of sugar or honey as well.
