photograph. Description: 185 Photographs,about the San Francisco Mostly 1960's and 1970's. Construction of Oakland Army Terminal started June 18, 1941, on a contract awarded a group called the Army Port Contractors. This group consisted of the following contracting firms - Macdonald and kahn, Inc.; W. A. Bechtel Co.; The Utah Construction Co.; and Bechtel-Mcone-Parsons Corp. which also served as Architect-Engineer for the project. One of their first tasks was to lay a blanket of rocky dry fill over the construction area to level and firm the surface. In this photo are shown several of the 13 trucks which worked day and night hauling over 4 million cubic yards of dry fill to the area.
