(On photo) "H.G. Prince & Co., Oakland, Sep 23, 1918 - Part of the Employees of H.G. Prince & Co." (D. Cooper, 4/2002) From a typed history of the California Packing Co. written by Mr. M. Brooding, CalPak: The H. G. Prince co. operated a small jam and jelly plant in San Francisco in 1868. The founder, H. G. Prince, has his early training with Crosse & Blackwell, British packers. This industry expanded to a large plant in Fruitvale, after the fire of 1906, and was later taken over by the California Packing Corporation between 1925 and 1930. The H. G. Prince and Co. plant was at the corner of East 11th and 29th Ave. in Oakland in 1918.
