H73.8.1
Bonnet. Description: sun-type. Blue and white gingham. Head portion stiffened with card-board slats. Has neck cover and chin tie. ca. 1860's. History: bonnet was worn by grandmother Francis Lyon in (b. 1833 or 34) Jamacia, Vermont while hung up clothes. Mother came to S.F. in 1888. This was worn for working in the garden. Nothing about the style that looks like the date - this is 1895-1905, not c.1860's as originally catalogued. (Joan Severa, 3/8/1994)
