(Diane Curry, June 18, 1996) This is a day-time shot of the Oakland Airport showing, aerial view. Photograph shows what appear to be five airplane hangers in a row and several other smaller buildings at the Oakland Airport. Although the photograph has been dated at 1927 it was probably taken after the Dole Race, so probably is later than 1927. According to reports of the Dole Race in August 1927, their were only three buildings at the airport and no hangers, because the planes for the race were worked on outside next to the runway.
