History: Many household objects were made of glass in the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. Most of these are called Depression glass, because so many were made during the Great Depression. Depression glass was made in many patterns and rich colors, and was prized for its beauty and cleanliness as well as its utility. In the 1950s and 1960s, many Depression glass items, especially storage containers and utensils, were remade in plastic. Museum Purchase
