(D. Curry, 11/16/99) Per Kimi Hill, grandaughter of Chiura Obata, the Japanese writing in the lower left corner of this painting translates to "RyokuhoJuly 10, 1943." Ryokuho is an artist name which he (Hanamura) received from Chiura Obata.
