Card. Description: certification card, Eagle Scout, Henry Yoshimoto, Poston, Ariz, June 4, 1945, white with pendent (sic) eagle. From the History Information Station: Object: Medal and red and white grosgrain ribbon. Issued by the Boy Scouts of America, War Service, 1945, for the Wastepaper Campaign. This medal was awarded to Henry Yoshimoto at Poston, Arizona, when he was 15 or 16 years of age. History: Boy Scouts advance in rank by earning Merit badges in such areas a citzenship, environmental awareness, community service, and leadership. During World War II, even Boy Scout troops organized in Japanese internment camps worked for the war effort. Poston was one of ten permanent detention camps where 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry were interned during World War II. 19,534 Japanese Americans from Southern California, Monterey Bay Area, Sacramento County, and Southern Arizona were interned at Poston.
