Printed on the front of this light green matchbook: "Alioto's No 8, Sea Foods, Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco, Calif." surrounded by a "rope" and various sea creatures...swordfish, crab, lobster, etc. Printed at the top: "ORdway 3-0184." On the back is a scene of Fisherman's Wharf, "Fisherman's Wharf as viewed from Alioto's Main Dining Room. No. 8 Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco." Printed on the inside is a mermaid: "Alioto's No. 8, Recommended by Duncan Hines in his book Adventures in Good Eating."

Later the Alioto name became important in San Francisco politics.
