#1418 Lakeside Drive, 1876. An Italianate-style Victorian, the Camron-Stanford House was possibly built for speculation by Samuel Merritt, who owned all of the property bordered by 13th, 17th, Oak and Jackson Streets. Five different families (the Camrons, Hewes, Seatons, Stanfords and Wrights) lived in the house between 1876 and 1907, when the City of Oakland purchased it as headquarters for the Oakland Public Museum. Part of the house has been restored to the period when the David Hewes family lived in the house, 1878-1881. The rest of the space is rented to non-profit organizations for offices.
