Hat. Description: Hat, brown satin with large brim and high, and squashed crown; highly stylized floral motifs of beige, yellow, peach and rose felt appliqued on in a brown blanket stitch; lined in peach colored taffeta. Condition excellent; has been re-lined in recent years. 12 3/5" x 14 1/2" x 6". History: Made by donor who was a professional milliner in Oakland for over 30 years, worked for Mae Niedt, Addy's and had her own shop. She went out of business in 1972. Shops were located on Grand Ave. between Broadway and Webster, donor's label was "Miss Helen." Narrower brim, late 1920's. (Joan Severa, 3/8/1994)
