History: The California apple industry is centered near Watsonville and Petaluma, with Sebastopol serving as a major processing and shipping site. Althought California's mild climate is not ideal for apple growing, California is still the fourth largest apple-growing state in the bnation. Over half of the crop is processed into appplesauce and apple juice.
