Dress-Blue cotton dress with alternating vertical very narrow and slightly wider white stripes. The dress is seamed down the middle at front and back, but in the back it may be opened from the neckline to the drop waist. There are two white thread buttonholes at the right side of the back near this opening. One is at the neckline, and the other is about mid-way between the neckline and the drop waist. The cuffs, neckline, and drop waist are decorated with white braid which features circles and squared spirals. Below the waist the skirt is gathered. There is a tuck near the hem and perpenticular to it. Stitching is done by machine except at the inner neckline. Ankle length. Dimensions: 9" from neck to hem, 11" from cuff edge to cuff edge. References/Remarks: The donor is the daughter-in-law of Emma Morgan North, the sister of architect Julia Morgan. (J. Hnadley, 1991).
