Artwork. Description: Oil on canvas painting by Kaffe Fassett, 1963. Shows the interior of the Old Spaghetti Factory Restaurant, owned by Fred Kuh. The painting is 48" x 48" on its stretcher; with frame it comes to 50" x 50". The frame is a simple wooden one, painted black with gold stripes. With the exception of superficial soil, the condition of both painting and frame is quite good. Condition 2. Dimensions: 50" x 50" (in frame). History: See donor file and lender file. (per VIS station, 5/92) The Old Spaghetti Factory was a popular Beat and bohemian hangout in San Francisco. Owner Fred Kuh purchased the painting in exchange for free meals for the artist, for the rest of his life. (Jean Kanstein, 5/92) Kaffe Fassett is the author of several books on needlepoint and sweater design. He also has had an exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
