Sack hook. Description: metal hook w/wooden handle; "HACK" carved on handle; Dimensions: handle 2 3/4" (W) 1" dia. 3 1/2" (L) History: Used by Charles Hackett in various dock and warehouse jobs. From the History Information Station: Object: Sack hook, used by Charles A. Hackett on dock and warehouse jobs. History: Charles Hackett was a charter member of Warehouse Union Local 6, which he joined in 1937. Mr. Hackett used this hook on dock and warehouse jobs. The longshoreman considers his hook an extension of his arm. It was one of the first "tools" in the industry, and is still widely used to lift and move heavy objects. Gift of Charles A. Hackett
