Highland, 5-22-35, Grade 5, Miss Parish

Four rows of boys and girls; the donor, Thelma Shobe, is the first person on the left in the top row. Note that several of the boys in the front row are barefoot. The donor is wearing a pink dress which her mother made for her out of material purchased at Newberry's Store; the cost of the dress was $.50. It was one of four dresses she got that year, all costing the same, all made by her mother. Christmas 1934 is when Thelma (the donor) received her Shirley Temple doll. She played with Margaret Cutler, 4th from the left in the 2nd row, and Adele Bradley (whose father was an attorney) 8th in the top row. The board held by the children is inscribed "Highland, 5/22/1933, Grade 5, Miss Parish."
