Group portrait of Chinese Americans in Locke, CA. Locke, a town in the trail of Sacramento County, north of Walnut Grove and on the Sacramento River. It was built (1915) by Chinese who worked on adjacent farms and railroads. Its main street, with two-story wooden balconied buildings, presents the classic image of an old mining town, although its residents were workers on the levees. It is still inhabited almost exclusively by Chinese.
