In 1909, the city voted to purchase 45 acres of that land between the two arms of the lake. Over 80 varieties of trees, shrubs and plants can be found in Lakeside Park. The neighborhood above Grand Avenue is part of the 200 acre Adams Point real estate development of the early 1900s. Many of the large and expensive homes have been replaced with apartment and commercial buildings.
