Clipping on the back of the photo reads, "SEEKING SOLUTIONS: Jojann Canada and Maja Findora, left, were among 55 Westlake Junior High students who gave city and school officials and parents a piece of their minds last night. Members of the Oakland Youth Communications Group sang, danced, acted and spoke out about what is happening in their neighborhoods at a performance in the school auditorium. The support group gives youth a place to go after class where they can creatively express themselves instead of hanging out in the street getting caught in the cross fire between drug dealers and the police, said founder Clayton Collins." Photo shows two young African-American girls standing in front of a podium. One girl is speaking and the other is looking on. Handwritten on the back "Jojann Canada and Maja Findora recite a poem called Roots."
