Typed on the back of the photo, "Street car crossing Franklin st. at 12th. Neg.No. 4885. Used 10-5-19." Clipping on the back dated June 22, 1947, reads, "Rocks flew and the police sweatily pressed the great crowds back as the first car, filled with the Oakland-San Francisco Terminal Railways Company's armed guards, crossed Franklin on 12th." Photo shows autos lined up and down the street, parked at the curb. One street car is coming down the street, its windows covered with wire mesh. A large crowd is standing around on the sidewalks and police officers.
