For a detailed summary of the prosecution's arguments, please see the "Remarks" screen for h96.1.1436. Second day of the trial of Burton W. Abbott, accused of the kidnapping and murder of 14 year-old Stephanie Bryan. From Nov. 7 until Nov. 15, the trial was occupied with selection of the jury. Here, defense counsels John F. Hanson, Jr., and Stanley D. Whitney confer with Burton Abbott. They have several white notebooks arrayed on the table in front of them. Behind Abbott stands a man about to take a photograph. Behind him sits a man who may be Assistant D.A. Folger Emerson, one of the two prosecutors of the case.
