Photograph shows a group of men standing outside a small wooden building. A sign flapping in the wind on the roof of the building says "Restaurant, Hot Dogs, Box Lunches, Sandwiches." The men in front are forming a line, more or less, and appear to be the pilots and navigators competing in the Dole Race. Several of the men are wearing suits, one is wearing a military uniform, one is wearing knickers with knee socks (possibly Livingston Irving), and another man has his pants tucked into his knee-high boots. A car is parked next to the men. Typed on the back of the print, "Dole Race" [three lines are drawn over other information that was typed above and below this, but they have been erases and marked with black felt tip]. July 30, 1947 is stamped on the back. See H96.1.1856 for description of the Dole Race.
