Typed paper glued on the back, "New Ryan plane flown to Oakland for delivery to Mutual Inland Airlines, Inc., for service on Oakland-Stockton-Sacramento run. See Jack Hewson, pilot." Photo shows the monoplane parked in front of a hangar. The cockpit door is standing open. On the side of the plane is written "Mutual Aircraft Corp. California Dist." During the 1920s, Ryan Aircraft (Ryan Airlines) made three main airplanes: the M-1 high-wing cabin monoplane, powered with a Wright Whirlwind engine; a special long range planes-the "Spirit of St. Louis" for Lindbergh; and a six-seat Brougham monoplane. The firm went out of buisness during the Depression, but the original owner reestablished a separate firm, Ryan Aeronautical in San Diego in 1933.
