Gilardi, Moore Shipyard sign painter, touches up a huge eye similar to those he paints on the bows of Moore cargo vessels as an omen for safe passage. -Tribune photo." Photo shows Gilardi wearing painters overalls and cap with a long sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows. He is holding a paintbrush in his right hand and is working on a large eye painted on the side of a ship. Several paint cans are sitting on a piece of wood in front of him.
