Clipping on the back, March 4, 1945-- "Twin-screw motorboat Kern, built for Union Oil Co., by Moore and Scott Iron Works, San Francisco. Launched August 28, 1915." Photo shows a boat decorated with both an American flag and signal flags still on dry dock before launching. Right in front of the boat is a small grandstand decorated with bunting on which a group of people, probably the Moore family, are standing on. On the dock is a small crowd of people both looking up at the ship and looking at the camera. On the front of the photo on the bottom is written "Twin screw motor boat 'Kern.' Built for Union Oil Co. by Moore & Scott Iron Works, San Francisco. 129 fr. x 28 ft. x 6 ft. tonnage 222.14 gross, 139.93 net. Carrying capacity 70,000 gals. oil in bulk. Draft loades 5 ft. Twin Metz & Weiss Oil Engines. Launched Aug. 28, 1915."
