Clipping on the back, March 4, 1945-- "Mrs. J.A. Moore, sponsor, with Mayor John L. Davie of Oakland at left and Mayor James Rolph Jr. at right. Launching of S.S. Mosella, U.S. shipping board hull no. 2234." Photo shows a group of people standing on the dock in front of a ship. Mrs. Moore is standing on a small plateform holding a bouquet of flowers in one arm and a bottle of champagn up with the other hand (the champagne was for cracking on the ship). Standing on the dock on either side of her little plateforem are Mayors Davie and Rolph. Standing behind Rolph are several small boys and a few other people (possibly the Moore family) and more people standing behind Davie. On the front of the photo is written "Sponsor Mrs. J.A. Moore, Mayor James Rolph and Mayor John Davie S.S. 'Mosella', U.S. Shipping Board Hull No. 2234. 402'6" x 53' x 26'6". Moore Shipbuilding company, Oakland, Cal., Dec. 20, 1919."
