Tribune clipping on the back, May 25, 1938-- "Ten minutes after the upper left photo was taken, the steel pylon buckled at the arrow and plunged the two men shown on the top 80 feet to the ground. The photo upper right shows the broken joint. George Buttner (lower left) rode the steel to earth and escapped with injuries. Paul Thorpe (lower right) died before help could arrive.- Tribune photo." Photo shows a steel scaffold-like structure laying on the ground where it collasped. It was built of steel pipes resting on four large wood railroad ties. Two men are standing near the structure, possibly looking at the damage. Another small cluster of men are standing a short distance away. Hangar No. 5 is in the background as well as several other smaller buildings.
