Tribune caption on the back, December 26, 1948-- "Steel for the dome of the Kahn store was just being put in place when Rogers made this picture. The neighborhood presents a vastly different picture today." May 3, 1954-- "The steel of the dome on the present Kahn's Department Store was just being put in place when this picture was taken. The store today is starting celebration of 75th anniversary." Photo shows the construction of Kahn's on Broadway. The building is framed up with only partial exterior walls. The building next door houses "Chickering Pianos." The building across the street from Kahn's is Hotel Hamilton.
