Tribune caption on the back, May 11, 1977-- "A jetliner (left) departing from Oakland International Airport's emergency runway on North Field roars up over homes on Bay Farm Island while a construction machine (right) prepares the airport's main runway for repaving, which will keep it closed most of the week. Many island residents feel the planes should be diverted to San Francisco during the project rather than taking off over their homes, and a few passed out protest pamphlets this morning at the Oakalnd airport terminal." Handwritten "Jet take-off over Bay Farm Island houses." Photo shows a plane high above some condos.
