Tribune caption, Jan. 18, 1984- "Merchant seamen at Oakland airport await flight to Diego Garcia, where they will replace crews bringing supplies to U.S. forces." Photo shows a group of men standing in line with their luggage in front of a ticket counter at the airport. The sign above the counter says "Military Airlift Command."
