Tribune caption on the back, Sep. 15, 1964- "ARCH OF BEAUTY- Dedication ceremonies were held today for the new $1,900,000 23rd Ave. overpass, a graceful arch of steel and concrete which soars over the Southern Pacific and Western Pacific tracks. The tapered piers and flowing girders of the structure has earned its designers the Oakland Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Achievement Award." Photo is an aerial view of the Nimitz freeway and the new overpass with the California Cotton Mills building and some houses between the two. Other warehouses and homes in the area.
