Handwritten on the back of the photo in red pencil,. "U.S.S. Huston docked at Oakland pier awaiting arrival Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt. 7/14/38." Photo shows a Navy ship tied up at a dock. The photo was taken looking up the rope tying the ship to the dock toward the bow of the ship. Standing on deck are sailors in their dark blue uniforms lined up along the railing of the ship. A flag with stars but no strips is flying at the bow of the ship. On the dock are several cars parked near what appear to be warehouse buildings. Sailing by in the water off the Huston's left side is a smaller boat with several flags (possibly signal flags) flying.
