Hand written on the back, in ink, "Aletta Marie Garretson - ready to march up the aisle (?)" the inference being that this is a wedding portrait. One of the important features of the portrait is the large leg-o-mutton sleeve of the dress. Embossed on the front is "Webster, 1069 Broadway, Oakland, Cal." Aletta Marie Garretson married Frank Frost c. 1896-1898.
