The cups and saucers in this collection come from Della's Tea Cup Cafe, 7309 MacArthur Boulevard, Oakland, which was established in February, 1967. The cafe is noted for, and decorated with, a very large collection of tea cups. Some of the cups were purchased by the owner, others were presented to her as gifts, while still others were made for her. A: cup is appliqued with quatrefoil flower in blue and gold, with white leaves and berries. The rest of the exterior of the cup is glazed in gold, with the interior and handle in white; these are decorated with gold stripes. B: saucer has a scalloped edge and is glazed in metallic gold on the top and white on the bottom. The mark is in black on the bottom: "Royal Winton, Grimwares, English, Bone China." The donor remarked: "That one is the one that's advertised. That's the one that was in the Chronicle." (refers to an article about her cafe that appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle)
