The cups and saucers in this collection come from Della's Tea Cup Cafe, 7309 MacArthur Boulevard, Oakland, which was established in February, 1967. The cafe is noted for, and decorated with, a very large collection of tea cups. Some of the cups were purchased by the owner, others were presented to her as gifts, while still others were made for her. Perhaps this cup and saucer are part of a chocolate or demitasse set. A: Cup, small, with a white interior, dark blue glazed exterior trimmed with a metallic gold dragon wrapped around the outside. Small scrolls of the metallic gold also decorated the outer rim and the handle. B: Saucer is entirely glazed in the dark blue; the interior is decorated with a dragon, in metallic gold, which is undulating (as perhaps in water) around the rim. The scalloped rim is decorated with metallic gold scrolls. Paper tag on the bottom of the cup marked "37X".
