The cups and saucers in this collection come from Della's Tea Cup Cafe, 7309 MacArthur Boulevard, Oakland, which was established in February, 1967. The cafe is noted for, and decorated with, a very large collection of tea cups. Some of the cups were purchased by the owner, others were presented to her as gifts, while still others were made for her. A: Moustache cup, with a protective "dam" of matching ceramic material to help protect the moustache of the gentleman who might have used such a cup. The cup is all white, with a heavy band of metallic gold at the outer lip and on the handle; the top edge of the moustache protector, and the decorative bas relief at the bottom of the cup are trim with lines of metallic gold. On the belly of the cup, front and back, are decals of multi-colored flowers. B: Saucer matches cup, white with metallic gold rim over bas relief pattern of scallops and beading. Two small floral decals complete the decoration. No manufacturer's mark on either cup or saucer.
