The cups and saucers in this collection come from Della's Tea Cup Cafe, 7309 MacArthur Boulevard, Oakland, which was established in February, 1967. The cafe is noted for, and decorated with, a very large collection of tea cups. Some of the cups were purchased by the owner, others were presented to her as gifts, while still others were made for her. A: Cup, squat shape with a full belly and loop for a handle. Glaze white porcelain with raised black flowers, and bas relief metallic gold leaves. Black and white box (centered with a dot) band around the rim inside (in metallic gold) and outside (in black). Loop handle is in metallic gold. Marked on the bottom with crossed picks in black. B: Saucer, in matching materials. Pattern on the rim is done in black. Flowers are assymetrically on one side of the saucer. Markins on the bottom the same as cup.
