The Open Valve, August, 1951
"The Open Valve" was an industrial magazine distributed to the workers of the Nordstrom Valve Division of Rockwell Manufacturing Co., Oakland, California. Issues frequently had article about the employees and various celebrations. In this issue a farewell is noted with a photograph. The cover of this issue shows a ship sailing under a bridge. There's a "Rockwell Report" from W. F. Rockwell, Jr., President of Rockwell Manufacturing Company. The feature article is on "Working Water - and Water-at-Play: A Salute to the Central Valley Project" with a mention of the Shasta Dam. There's also an article with photographs "Blacksmiths Work With Fire", discussing the Nordstrom Craftsmen who manufacture and maintain small tools and machinery. There's an article about Howard Hadfield, who worked as a baker. The inside back cover is full of photographs of a dance. The back cover shows a waterfall.
