"The Open Valve" was an industrial magazine distributed to the workers of the Nordstrom Valve Division of Rockwell Manufacturing Co., Oakland, California. Issues frequently had article about the employees and various celebrations. In this issue a farewell is noted with a photograph. The cover of this issue as well as the back cover, shows women bowling (woman on the cover in pedal pushers and the women on back are in slacks). There's a "Rockwell Report" from W. F. Rockwell, Jr., President of Rockwell Manufacturing Company. The feature article is on "Nordstrom Valves--and the Oil Industry". Another article with many photographs "Production Coordinators Align Machining Schedules". There's an article on an employee, Hal Crawford. The inside back cover is full of photographs of a dance.
