A-D: Cast toy ships, made of lead and cast by Herbert Towler as a child in Oakland. "...Although molds came in various versions: Boy Scouts, airplane, foot soldier and soldier on horseback, I always referred to them as 'soldiers'...[The molding unit] not only gave me countless hours of pleasure but was also a source of income as I sold these to my schoolmates for a nominal sum, probably equal to the cost of the lead..." C-D: are very shiny and still have the molded base unit attached.
