Handwritten on the back, "Chas 'Spec' Roberts." Photo shows an African American man wearing an Oakland Larks uniform standing behind the pitchers plate. It appears that he has just thrown the ball. Roberts was one of four pitchers that traveled with the Larks barnstorming team of 1947. His nickname is sometimes spelt "Specks" and other times "Spec."
