Hunting knife in sheath. (Barry Hopp, 1980) Bowie knife. The knife has a straight single-edged blade that terminates in a clipped point with a false edge. German silver crossguard with straight quillons. The two-piece grip is made of antler. The scales are secured to the tang of the blade by four brass rivets passing transversely through the tang and scales. The ricasso of the blade is marked on the reverse side "SPRINGBROOKE/KNIFE CO/WARRENTED." The knife measures 10 1/8 inches overall. Blade measures 5 7/8 inches and is 1 inch wide at the hilt. ca. 1860-1870
