Gift of Chang Wen Ti

Attributed by Mr. Sidney Ashkenazie of Ashkenazie & Co., 1983: "Pear shaped vase and cover seen in highly decorated fashion with renditions of flowers, gourds, leaves and insects extending to each side. Done in bold and high relief. Intricately achieved realism on flowers and leaves. Cover fits snugly into rim of body area. Colour is deep apple green ranging to slight emerald, with patches of lavender. One of the finest carvings seen in jadeite, in respect to design, and use of colour that we have encountered. Wood stand carved using the theme of gourds in detailed manner. Late 19th century."
